Stittsville has a genuine old village at its centre — the streets around Main Street have mature trees that predate anything in the surrounding subdivisions by decades. My new cedar hedge is thin at the bottom - can that be fixed?
Sometimes, if it is caught early. The cause is almost always shape: a hedge cut straight up and down, or wider at the top, shades out its own base until the lower growth dies off. Cedar cannot regrow from bare brown wood, so the fix is to taper the face while there is still green low down. Left another few years, the bare base is permanent.
Do you grind several stumps at once?
