Stump grinding, priced from a photo

The grinder is ours, so a stump doesn't wait on a second company or a second booking. Send a photo with something in the shot for scale, and most stumps get a price back the same day.

What you can hold us to

Nothing dropped on what you want kept

With a roof, a fence or a garden underneath, the tree comes down in pieces lowered on ropes. It's slower than dropping it. That's the job.

Proof of insurance

Fully insured. The certificate is in your hands before anyone climbs. Ask every company you get a quote from for the same.

Raked, not just picked up

Chipping, hauling and a final rake are in every price. You shouldn't be pulling twigs out of the lawnmower next spring.

Sometimes the answer is a smaller job

If a prune or a cable will make the tree safe, you'll hear that before you hear a removal price. The person telling you is the one who'd be doing the work.

A proper look at the risky ones

Max is Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ). A tree that might fail gets looked at properly before anyone decides whether it stays or goes.

    We walk it with you

What's underneath, how close the truck can get, and whether the tree needs to come out at all.

  3. 3

    Written quote

In writing within 48 hours of the visit: what we'll do, where the job stops, and the tax on its own line. No obligation.

  4. 4

    The work, then the rake

Done the way it's written, by the people who quoted it. Nobody leaves until the yard is raked.

Tree service questions

Is my tree dangerous?

Watch for dead branches through the top, a crack in the trunk or a fork, mushrooms at the base, a lean that wasn't there before, or an ash with a thin top and leaves only low down. Not sure? Send a photo and we'll give you an honest assessment.

Who actually shows up?

The same small crew, two or three trained people. Max, the owner, does the quote and is on site for the work. No subcontractors.

How is the price worked out?

By the size of the tree, how close the truck can get, and what's underneath it. Max gives you a written price after looking at it, free, before any work starts.

Do I need a permit to remove a tree?

Often, inside the City of Ottawa. Under By-law 2020-340, a private tree 30 cm or more across at chest height in the urban area needs a permit before removal on lots of one hectare or less. Dead trees and genuine emergency hazards are exempt.

Are you insured, and can I see proof?

Yes. We carry commercial general liability insurance, and the certificate comes to you before any work starts. Any tree company you hire should be able to do the same.

What's included in the price?

Cutting, chipping, hauling it all away and raking up. Want the wood left stacked, or the stump ground? Say so and it goes on the quote. The number you agree to is the number you pay.

How much does stump grinding cost?

It depends on the stump’s width at ground level, the type of wood, how easy it is to reach, and whether the grindings are hauled away. Send a photo with a boot or tape measure in the shot and most stumps are priced without a visit. Several stumps on one visit cost less per stump.

Can you grind the stump too?

Yes. We own our stump grinder, so the stump can be ground the same visit as the removal. The exception is a stump near buried gas or hydro lines, which waits on Ontario One Call locates first.

Do you work on commercial properties?

Yes. Alongside homeowners, we work for property managers, landscapers, contractors and businesses. Quotes are in writing, and a certificate of insurance is provided before work starts.

How fast can you get here?

Every enquiry gets a reply within 24 hours. Storm damage and hazard trees move to the front of the schedule.

Tree service across Ottawa and the Valley

Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley. Kemptville, Arnprior and Rockland are outside the City of Ottawa, so the City's tree by-law doesn't apply there.

Got a tree you've been keeping an eye on?

Send a photo and tell us what's bothering you about it. You'll hear back within 24 hours, from the person who'd do the work.
